7 miles in Solana Beach

Despite a busy week of travel, Eddie showed his commitment when we woke up to a cold and dreary day and ran anyways. Our 7 mile run started at Lomas Sante Fe and turned back in Del Mar, usually a relatively flat course, our run today consisted of some surprise hills which made it challenging. I didn't feel like running today, but I'm glad I did. Sometimes it's the days that you run when you don't want to get out bed that make you realize why goals are important. We're on track. It's nice to have each other to keep each other motivated.

Brrrrrrrrr...clammy hands...where we started today

Get Out of Dodge Trip - Santa Monica

I was adamant that despite the rain - we stick with our plans to get out Dodge. The morning looked bleak with overcast skies and pouring rain at the start of our 2 hour drive to Santa Monica. At some points, it was hard for us to see in front of us. Fortunately, the rain stopped by the time we reached our hotel. We enjoyed some great chowder and calamari followed by a jaunt to Third Street Promenade and an impromptu decision to watch "21 Jump Street" - hilarious movie before we nearly ran back to our room because of the extreme cold which seemed reminiscent of Eddie's winters in NY. A trip to LA would not be complete without a star sighting. We passed by the Ivy and saw an ex-NY housewife - Jill Zarin and her husband Bobby dining at the Ivy for lunch. Before we left, we checked out Main St. - not much happening, and took a quick stop at San Juan Capistrano for lunch before heading home.

6 and 7

It began to rain this Saturday, first it was a mist and then it came down in drops. We braved it anyhow and successfully completed 6 miles for Eddie and 7 miles for Melissa. Our route took us along the residential area of Leucadia. Although idyllic, it was startling when a dog jumped and locked its jaws on a runner's sleeve right in front of me. Fortunately, she ran away unscathed. Eddie ran at a strong pace and next week, he'll be heading up to 7. Having put in the time in some outdoor runs this past week, I felt stronger during this run than in previous weeks.

5 and 6 miles

After a weeks of mild training, Eddie came in strong at 5 miles. After skinning my knees, I ran 6 miles this weekend. Gorgeous day, next week we'll bring the water bottles for a longer run. Looking forward to finally getting serious about this - it's just around the corner!

Fun in San Francisco

President's Day weekend was kicked off with a visit to my San Francisco with dim sum and mom. We also enjoyed a visit to Wincester Mystey Mansion with my Dad. I love this picture of my Dad and Eddie, and my Dad's new love - a Porsche Carrera Sport.

Running Coast To Coast

While Eddie ran in Staten Island with steady ran, fog, and 40 degree weather - so proud of him, I miraculously dragged myself out of bed to meet up with our running group at 7:30a with clear skies and a slight breeze. 6 miles was not too hard, but not without mishaps. On my way back, I had moment of fuzziness when I wasn't sure where we were supposed to turn, but I found my way. Just when I was in the clear - smack, I fell. Scraped by shoulder, knees, and chin. Thank goodness that it happened at the end. Looking forward to resting.
