11 and counting

Eddie ran 11 miles on Saturday. The course he ran had a 3/4 mile hill at mile 10. It was a difficult stretch but a necessary one for preperation as the race course has a steep hill at mile 9. With two weeks to go he is on track for the half marathon. Melissa is completing her physical therapy this week and is still deciding her best approach for the race. Either way we both want a medal! More updates next week!

Scottsdale and Adam Richman

We had no idea what to expect attending our first food festival in Scottsdale, AZ, a 1hr flight from San Diego. We were met with 90 degree temps, but feeling a bit of a hunger bug, we took a brief 15 min cab ride to our hotel. The Saguaro was a trendy and hip boutique hotel where friendly valets greeted us dressed in jeans and t-shirts. We had a hard time figuring out who worked at the hotel and who were the guests. The bright blue, purple, and green decor was definitely not our usual style. We ate at Distrito, tacos, chips, quacamole, and churros. On Saturday, we attended The Scottsdale Food Festival right outside our hotel. With a little bit of work to figure out how to get our badges, we began our day at the VIP lounge. Only downside - mexican food again! At 1p, we attended Adam Richman's food demo, where we sat in the front row - no better seat in the house, followed by a meet and greet with Adam. He was just as nice and personable as he is on the show. Next, we headed towards the Festival of Beers for unlimited beer tastings from what seemed like an endless list of vendors. The syrup beer from Alaska was the strangest one. Eddie and I also got to use the gym with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors overlooking the pool, which was for the most part empty. We had a fantastic trip and this was a wonderful experience to share with others.

Hoppy Easter

For Easter this year, we attended the 11a service followed by brunch at The Crossings. While the brunch was good, I find myself eating less these days since I tore my calf muscle. I'm in my second week of recovery with no running for another two weeks. Eddie ran 8 miles last week, so he'll be solo at the Saturday run while I be at the gym at my 8a spin class. I can't wait to get back into training. We're optimistic about my chances to complete the half marathon.

Warriors/Nets Game

We went to the Warriors and Nets game in Oakland where my brother deliverd the ball to open the game. We were treated like VIPs, sitting courtside while the teams warmed up and then later attending a VIP party with draft Andrew Bottey. Only downside, the Warriors lost. Dad's 62nd b-day was fun. Eddie learned how to make wontons and they tasted delicious.
